Smart inverter
8
Technology Description
Inverters convert the direct current output of solar photovoltaic generation units to alternating current that can be fed into the grid or used directly by consumers. Smart inverters provide functionality that facilitates the integration of PV in electricity systems. These include voltage support at the distribution level, frequency regulation, fault-ride-through capabilities. Large numbers of smart inverters can be operated autonomously, either statically or dynamically reacting to changes on the grid, or in the future remotely controlled through active and reactive power management to provide additional services to the distribution (or transmission) operator.
