Chemical absorption (high value chemicals)
7
Technology Description
Chemical absorption of CO2 is a common process operation based on the reaction between CO2 and a chemical solvent (e.g. amine-based). The CO2 is released at temperatures typically in the range 120 °C - 150 °C and the solvent is regenerated for further operation.
Relevance for Net Zero
CCS has good potential to reduce emissions from high value chemicals (HVCs) production at a reasonable cost. It is a key competitor for emission reductions for HVCs.
