HVDC Breaker

Technology Description
HVDC circuit breakers can enable the expansion of high-voltage direct current lines by tuning HVDC point-to-point connections into a network. This would improve reliability, enable load balancing, reduce transmission losses and facilitate cross-border energy trading. HVDC circuit breakers are crucial because, in the event of a fault on one of the lines, they can isolate it by cutting off the energy, even when extremely high power is required, while the rest of the transmission system can keep the energy flowing.
